Residium is more than just a showroom. It's a hub for the building and design community, where visitors can find everything they need to build or renovate their dream home or workspace.

The idea for Residium was born out of the need for a space where architects, designers, and homeowners could come together to explore the latest trends and innovations in the industry. We wanted to create a place that would inspire creativity, collaboration, and community, and we have succeeded in doing just that.

Our team hosts regular events, workshops, and talks to bring the community together and foster innovation. Follow us on instagram for updates.

FAQ’S

  • Absolutely everyone is welcome at our design showroom – it's not exclusive to trade professionals! Whether you're a first-time renovator embarking on a home project, an experienced architect fine-tuning details for a client, or anyone in between, our doors are wide open for you.

Our visitors come from various backgrounds. Some are sent by their designers to make those crucial final decisions on colors and finishes, while others simply drop by as potential renovators seeking inspiration and ideas. At our showroom, we're dedicated to creating a welcoming space for all, catering to your unique needs, regardless of your level of experience in the world of design and renovation.

  • The architectural products you can discover at Residium aren’t the cash & carry kind. They are either made-to-order, available to order through fabricators or able to be ordered online. Some of our showrooms offer ways to digitally order in-store. Just ask us if you need help finding a merchant, installer or ordering your chosen product.

  • A number of our brands offer take-home samples of surfaces, hardware colour swatches and other items. Other brands offer complimentary sample ordering via showroom iPad, or their websites. Our team will advise you.

  • Some of our showrooms are manned full or part time by experienced brand reps. You can find full-time staff at ABI Interiors and the Bremworth Experience Store.

If you’re visiting an unmanned showroom, ask at Reception for an introduction to the relevant customer services teams or for a product brochure. We can also make introductions to spec reps for guided showroom tours.

  • We are currently undergoing a renovation, so our usual large work tables aren’t available until January. We have a Boardroom and a range of smaller spaces you’re welcome to use to meet clients. To pre-book the boardroom or let us know you’re coming, email us here.

  • The word "Residium" is derived from the Latin word "residuum," which means "what is left behind." This word holds significant meaning for us, as we are conscious that our built environment creates a legacy that is left behind for future generations to experience and enjoy. We believe that there is a significant responsibility in this, to ensure that it is a worthy legacy that contributes to a better environment, both built and natural.

HISTORY

We are proudly situated in the heart of Parnell’s design precinct. Our building was built in the 1950’s as a wool store at 165 The Strand, of which we occupy the entire ground floor.

Home Ideas Auckland was opened on the site in 1997 and at one point showcased almost 400 exhibitors. As the needs of Auckland’s homeowners and specifiers has changed, our Centre is now the Central Auckland home of New Zealand’s premier architectural suppliers spread over 3500 square metres. Our Exhibitor Showrooms are in some cases vast, immersive spaces in which to discover thousands of products.

Residium is owned by Hugh McKellar, and staffed by an experienced team of design enthusiasts including an events crew and operations team.
