Recap: Designing from the Ground Up, an Evening of Design Inspiration

Last week, Residium welcomed homeowners, renovators and design enthusiasts for an interactive Moodboarding Workshop ‘Designing from the Ground Up’ with Marchand Luxury Oak, designed to help attendees bring clarity and confidence to their upcoming projects.

Led by Sarah Kerr from Marchand and special guest interior designer Holly Houndstooth, the evening explored how colour, materials and finishes work together to shape the character and atmosphere of a home. Through practical exercises and expert guidance, guests were encouraged to think beyond individual products and consider how every design decision contributes to a cohesive overall vision.

What made the evening particularly valuable was the opportunity to engage directly with specialists from across the design and building industry. Representatives from Resene, NZ Panels Group, Laminex, Bremworth and enjoy samples from James Dunlop, ABI Interiors, Terrazzo & Stone, Lo & Co, LIV+ by Living Design and The Finish.

For many attendees, the workshop provided a rare opportunity to compare materials, ask questions and refine ideas with multiple experts in one place. From colour palettes and surface selections to flooring, hardware and textiles, conversations throughout the evening reflected the excitement—and sometimes complexity—of bringing a home project to life.
