Residium Limited ("Residium", "we", "us") operates the Residium Design + Building Centre at 165 The Strand, Parnell, Auckland, and the websites residium.co.nz and buildanddesignday.co.nz. Residium was formerly known as Home Ideas Auckland. We handle personal information in accordance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.

WHAT WE COLLECT

We collect personal information when you:

  • Make an enquiry through our websites or by email — your name, email address, and your message, so we can respond.

  • Sign up to our newsletter — your name and email address, so we can send you news and updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we'll stop when you ask.

  • Register for an event, workshop, or competition — your name and contact details, to register you and run the event. If a partner brand will receive your details, we'll say so on the registration form.

  • Request information from a showroom partner — or otherwise indicate an interest in their product, service, or brand.

  • Enquire about venue hire or showroom space — your name, organisation, and contact details, to manage your enquiry.

  • Visit our showroom — we ask all visitors to sign in for health and safety reasons. Our premises at 165 The Strand are also monitored by signposted CCTV for the safety and security of visitors, staff, and property; footage is held securely, viewed only when needed for a security or safety incident, and retained for a limited period before being overwritten.

You don't have to give us personal information, but without it we may not be able to respond to you or provide what you've asked for.

Occasionally we receive your details from someone else — for example, a colleague registers you for an event. When that happens, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know we hold your information and that you can ask to see and correct it.

COOKIES AND ANALYTICS

Our websites are built on Squarespace, which uses cookies for essential site functions and, with your settings permitting, aggregated analytics about how visitors use the site. We also use social media tracking (Metricool) to measure how people arrive from our social channels. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the sites will still work. Pages with embedded social content (such as Instagram) may set third-party cookies governed by those platforms' own privacy policies.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to respond to enquiries, provide services you've requested, register and run events, send newsletters you've signed up for, connect you with showroom partners where you have indicated an interest in their product, service, or brand, improve our websites and showroom, and meet our legal obligations. We don't use it for unrelated purposes.

WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • with showroom partners, exhibitors, or suppliers where you have indicated an interest in their product, service, or brand — we pass on your name and contact details so they can respond, and they may keep you informed about related products and services, contacting you directly under their own privacy policy (you can opt out with them, or with us, at any time);

  • with showroom partners co-hosting an event you register for, where we tell you this on the registration form;

  • with service providers who help us operate (website hosting, email delivery, IT support, event coordination, professional advisers), who may only use it to provide services to us; and

  • where required or permitted by law.

OVERSEAS STORAGE

Some of our service providers (including Squarespace + Wordpress, our website platforms) store information on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States. They hold it as our agents, we remain responsible for it under the Privacy Act, and we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by comparable safeguards.

SECURITY AND RETENTION

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, and we keep it only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires.

THIRD-PARTY LINKS

Our websites link to showroom partners' and other third parties' websites. We aren't responsible for their privacy practices — check their own privacy policies.

YOUR RIGHTS

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it, free of charge. We'll respond within 20 working days. Contact our Privacy Officer:
