Case Study: Queenstown Aspen Home
Set within the dramatic Queenstown landscape, this residence showcases refined minimalism through tone, texture, and craftsmanship. Designed by Spatial Studio and finished by MIM Limited, the interior palette is anchored by plaster surfaces that shift gently with natural light.
“We wanted a surface with real depth that would respond beautifully to changing light and have visual presence from afar. The textured bone tone has elevated key spaces and will evolve naturally over time.” – Spatial Studio
To achieve this tactile, light-responsive finish, the team specified Novacolor Calce Cruda — a mineral blend of lime, clay, and marble powder known for its velvety matte feel and subtle movement. Applied by hand-trowel across the entry, staircases, powder room, and media room, the finish offers depth without heaviness and a calm, cohesive tonal mood.
Breathable and natural, Calce Cruda is designed to age gracefully, aligning with the project’s enduring, lived-in sensibility and the surrounding alpine environment.
